A big congrats to Stephanie, the newest Featured Stamper (FS491)on Splitcoast! What a wonderful gallery! I didn’t have to go far to find THIS set of cards to case. I’m also a fan of Mondrian so this was an easy choice.
I thought Stephanie’s set of cards looked so cool & I just bought this embossing folder that reminded me so much of the graphic design of her cards. The only way I could think of to add the color to it (coloring some of the little squares didn’t work…believe me, I tried), was to emboss little rectangles & circles & add them on top. I also drew a few black lines w/ a pen & ruler. After I did that, I added a couple of black die cut frames & w/ little strips of color behind the inside one. Then I came across this Hero Arts stamp set I’ve never used & the greeting letters look just like one of the frames. Perfect!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Today’s Sketch Challenge (SC584) & yesterday’s Color Challenge (CC574) both seemed easy but turned out not to be so for me. I’m still undecided about this card, but it is what it is.
I used an old stamp from Hero Arts I know had been retired by them a long while ago, but I found Peddler’s Pack is apparently selling them..so I guess you learn something every day. After stamping this cute bunny on the kraft w/ Memento, I used Prismacolor pencils to color him then over stamped w/ Versafine. I did the same for the Chinese coin & used a circle punch on it. The Easter letters were die cut once out of the kraft & once out of white, then stacked offset. After cutting off the requisite corner for the sketch, I added the dots w/ a border embossing folder. The largest layer really is a close clone of sahara sand, even though it looks about the same as the kraft in this pic. Oh well!
Here are the pencil colors I used. If you can’t read them, they are:
Blender, White, Pale Vermillion, Salmon Pink, Lt. Peach, Peach, Ginger Root, Beige, French Gray 50%, French Gray 70%.

A big congrats to Vicki, the Featured Stamper on Splitcoast (FS329)! What a wonderful gallery she has! I chose her Thanks card to case. I kept the layout and flower theme, but I used different images, different colors and a different embossing folder.
I had a background I had water colored using reinkers, and I liked the colors, so I stamped the poppy image on top. I really wanted a white bg like Vicki’s so I fussy cut the poppies and placed them on a very lightly sponged die cut oval. A bow and die cut tag w/ the sentiment were added. I used a strip of dp and for the very narrow orangey strip, I just ran an apricot Copic marker down a piece of white c/s to get the color. The white bg was embossed and then everything was attached to my 4.25 x 5.50 white card. I added a bow (it was white and I colored it w/ Copics) and a few black pearls to finish it.
Congrats again and enjoy your week, Vicki! Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great Memorial Day!
