It’s my pleasure to guest host the Watercolor Wednesday Challenge (WCW018) on Splitcoast. The technique I chose is Watercolor on embossed paper. I thought it looked interesting but easy enough for everyone.
Since I wanted to make a Halloween card, I chose a couple of Halloween themed embossing folders to go w/ my cute little die cut owl. I embossed the large bg w/ the wordy folder then followed the instructions on the video using bright, Halloween colors of my Peerless watercolors. After it dried, I thought the words didn’t really pack the punch I wanted so I inked the inside of the folder w/ black soot Distress oxide ink & embossed the watercolored bg again. Much better! Now the words really show up.
I did the same for the little orange Wicked strip & perched my owl on it.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

For the Splitcoast Inspiration Challenge (IC771), we’re headed to Stuffed Safari. They have some really cute stuffed critters & was drawn to the bats & cats on THIS page.
My card today is pretty easy. I die cut a white panel then masked off an area on either side & sponged the colors inside the unmasked area. Put it in my Misti & stamped the spooky tree image a few times. Just to give it a little punch & imitate a layer, I added a couple of thin black strips on either side. Stamped the greeting & some bats & done!
Here’s a look at the inside.

A big congrats to Barbara, the newest Featured Stamper (FS709) on Splitcoast! She has a fabulous gallery w/ wonderful coloring & cute images. I chose THIS card to case. I kept the slimline & triple images, but I used different stamps & dies & made mine a Halloween card.
For my card, I die cut the slimline panel then placed it over the Halloween bg image in order to pick the areas I wanted to show. I sort of cherry picked the areas so the greeting would show & had to die cut them w/ the circles dies to place them inside the openings. I colored the three areas then cut a slightly larger black layer & used a circle die to cut out the centers & placed my Halloween images inside. I added some die cut bats, webs & a spider to finish it.
Here are the Copics I used:
