Welcome to the Our Daily Bread Designs April 1 Release Blog Hop!

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

For my card, I’m using the new Francis of Assisi and Cat Sympathy.  I stamped part of the Francis of Assisi image around the sentiment (from Cat Sympathy), colored it with markers and die cut with a Spellbinders classic oval.  For the embossed white background, I used two embossing folders. First I used the one w/ the little bird then cut cardboard in the shape of the wreath (to keep it from embossing over the bird) and embossed again using the wreath folder. The corners were rounded and I added some black enamel dots to two corners. The black background was also embossed using a Spellbinders M-Bossabilities folder. I died the white ribbon using the Neptune ink pad. The finished card is 4.50 x 6.25 (A6).

    Thanks so much for visiting…

  • Wonderful Day

    Happy Sunday!
Today, the Featured Stamper Challenge (FS268) on Splitcoast is…EVERYONE! Each of us is our own Featured Stamper! So pick one of your own cards, CASE (copy and share everything), remembering to change at least 2 things, then play along!

I found out one important thing with this challenge, I found it much harder to CASE myself than I would have imagined. To me, it’s just hard to pick a card I’ve previously made then make another with changes. I find myself wanting to make the same card. I usually don’t have that problem when CASEing someone else. In the end, I kept the layout and most of the details, but changed the colors, the stamps used and the embossing folder. Here’s the original card from April 2011, called Butterfly Dreams.

And here is my CASE of this card:

Julie Warner - justwritedesigns - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.comSee what I mean? They look like sisters. One a butterfly, the other a dragonfly. The images on the new dragonfly card are all from Our Daily Bread designs. After sponging the background, I stamped the cattails , small dragonfly and flourish image around them to make the frame. I used a little bleach to remove the color in select areas.

The white background was embossed with a Sizzix folder and some stickles was added to the images. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

p.s If you read Cindy’s Featured Stamper post, then you know I’m one of the new Featured Stamper Challenge team! I’m so excited to be working along side Bridget Finlay, Judy Rozema and Stacy Morgan to bring you the FS challenge. And good luck and best wishes to Cindy in her new job and thanks for the wonderful Featured Stampers she brought to us!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • You Are a Blessing!

Welcome to Our Daily Bread Designs‘  Alumni Team’s bi-monthly For the Love Blog Hop.  If you arrived here from the  blog of thevery talented Rosemary Dennis, then you’re in the right place. If not, you may want to go to the ODBD Blog  and start from the beginning. This week the Alumni team along with some of the ODBD designers are featuring a hop for the For the Love of ODBD Backgrounds!

For my card, I used two backgrounds: the Large Bird Background and the Wood Background.

The two backgrounds were stamped with the pigment ink and the edges sponged w/ the same ink and a little of the darker fluid chalk ink on the very edge.

On the sentiment/label, I placed a mask where the sentiment would be and inked the rest DTP (direct to paper) with the pixie dust ink at the top, papaya cream ink in the middle and rose coral ink at the bottom. After it dried,  I removed the mask and stamped the label and sentiment with black ink.  I really wanted to use gray ink, but it just looked too washed out. I used a white gel pen to add the tiny white dots around the flowers. It was die cut w/ the coordinating Spellbinders Labels 18 die.  I die cut a flourish out of some left over DTP c/s and added the two little punched birds and a double bow. The finished card is 6.25 x 4.50 (A6).

Thanks so much for stopping by! I’m also adding this to the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast (IC328).
