A big congrats to Cary, the newest (and last FS for 2013) Featured Stamper! Such a wonderful gallery! I chose This card to case. I loved the white on color and the window opening, so I kept those but I changed the color, the images and made 3 openings thru the front instead of 1.

For my CASE, I white embossed the bg onto kraft card stock trimmed to 5.25 x 4.0. I temporarily attached it to the front of my A2 card and die cut the solid flower 3 times thru the front. After lining up a piece of vanilla vellum, I white embossed the three flower images onto the vellum. I decided the white embossed kraft didn’t show up well around the cut outs, so I die cut a band of white and lined it up on top. It may be a bit hard to see, but the light shines thru the vellum on the cut outs thru the card so nicely. I added ribbon like Cary did and also a little greeting tag attached to the ribbon.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • Belleek & Butterflies

    Belleek & Butterflies 01722

It’s Dare to Get Dirty week on Splitcoast! I made this for Kittie’s fabulous challenge (DTGD13Kittie747). You’ll need to be a Splitcoast Fan Club Member to view the challenge.

For my card, I used images from Our Daily Bread designs. The background was made by using a brayer and rolling soft sand ink across the inside of the embossing folder then embossing a piece of white card stock. Since the ink only goes onto the raised surfaces of the folder, those areas become the recesses of the card stock. The brayer makes it a little more even, but I still had a few white areas, so I cheated a bit by filling those in w/ a Copic marker (Eggshell) that closely matched.

The butterflies were white embossed on vellum, the large one has a matching die, the small one was fussy cut. I attached only the centers of the butterflies to matching ivory shapes underneath. The sentiment was white embossed on vellum and backed w/ a sponged, die cut oval to make it stand out more. A Memory Box die cut frame was added on top w/ a few pearls. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • ODBD July Release!

    Julie Warner - http:///thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

Hello and welcome to the ODBD July New Release! Grace is on vacation this month so Kelley is in charge and she’s  going to change it up a bit! We will not be having a regular blog hop, but Kelley will be posting all of the Design Teams cards on the ODBD Blog and links to their blogs.

Starting this month our Alumni Team will no longer be posting on Thursdays but will now be joining in on our New Release Posts to bring you even more inspiration for our new stamps!

Some news about the ODBD Designers….

    • Angella Crockett and Audrey Hiltke are moving to the Alumni Team!
    • Cathy McCauley is moving to the Design Team!
    • Deb Saaranen is on hiatus for a few months since she is moving
    • Kathy Roney is leaving the Challenge Team and we will miss her!!
    • Connie McCotter and Betty Wright are leaving the Alumni Team and we will miss them also! Connie and Betty have been on our team for many years and Betty has been the Alumni Team Coordinator for a couple years!
    • Cheryl Scrivens is joining us on the Challenge Team!!

Lots of changes but we’ll still be bringing you the same wonderful images and designs!

On my first card, I white embossed the sentiment on teal card stock and die cut it w/ a mega oval die. The rest of the framing was die cut w/ the  radiant rectangles dies. I cut two each of the radiant rectangle dies and the oval and sandwiched a piece of vellum in between them so it would look as pretty on the inside as on the outside. I added some pearls to my 6 x 4.50 card.

    O
n my second card, I silver embossed the swirly cake on black card stock and die cut w/ a Labels 4 die. The silver layer behind it was die cut w/ Gold Labels 4 die. I used a white gel pen to color in the little hearts and went over the center hearts w/ a red Micron pen. The black background was stamped w/ white pigment ink using the Brocade Background. I let it dry a bit before sprinkling on white embossing powder and heat embossing it.
