  • SNS Fall Inspiration Hop

Welcome to the Sparkle N Sprinkle Fall Inspiration Blog Hop!

If you hopped here by way of Judy Rozema’s blog, then you’re on the right track. If you’ve arrived from somewhere else, you might want to start from
the beginning, at the SNS blog, so as not to miss anyone’s remarkable cards! This is a 2 day hop,  10/18/10 thru 10/19/10.

Of course a prize is involved. Just:

    1. Leave a comment at each person’s blog (if experiencing technical problems, e-mail SNS_Artist@tampabay.rr.com with your name in the subject field, and include a message about the artist’s card and which blog it was at).
    2. Follow the directions at the last blog to become eligible for a stamp set of your choice!

(You may have seen these cards on the Splitcoast Faux Brad Tutorial which debuted 10/13/10.)  For both of my cards, I used the Autumn Swirl set 410. Isn’t it lovely? For the first card, I used a rainbow ink pad for the tree, greeting and 1/2″ faux brads. I used a Spellbinders rectangle to cut it out and a petite oval for the greeting. On the horizontal mustard layer, I stamped another of the swirl images using part of the Autumn Leaves Kpad. The sentiment was die cut using a petite oval nestie. The faux brads were made using a scrap of the vanilla which I first stamped w/ the swirl images using the Kpads. These faux brads are 1/2 inch. Finished card measures 5.5 x 4.25 (A2).

    Supplies:
stamps: Sparkle N Sprinkle – Autumn Swril set 410
    paper: vanilla, mustard, grape
ink: Kaleidacolor Creole Spice & Autumn Leaves
accessories: Spellbinders petite ovals & rectangles, 1/2 inch hole punch (faux brads)

For this second card, I used the same images and layout, but “painted” my tree with 3 different embossing powders. The swirly tree image was stamped w/ VM and I used the 3 embossing powders and a technique I call “painting w/ ep”. I used a rectangle nestie to cut it out. Two very narrow mats, 1 mustard, 1 rust (spritzed w/ bleach), back it.

On the horizontal mustard layer, I stamped another of the swirl images using part of the Autumn Leaves Kpad. The sentiment was die cut using a petite oval nestie. The Faux Brads were made using a scrap of the vanilla which I first stamped w/ the swirl images using VM and sprinkled w/ the embossing powders. These faux brads are 1/2 inch. Finished card measures 5.5 x 4.25 (A2).

    Supplies:
stamps: Sparkle N Sprinkle – Autumn Swril set 410
paper: vanilla, mustard, rust (spritzed w/ bleach)
    ink: VersaMark, Kaleidacolor Autumn Leaves
accessories: embossing powders (Indian Corn, Fall Fiesta & Golden Follies- all SNS), Spellbinders petite ovals & rectangles, 1/2 inch hole punch (faux brads), bleach

  • Winter Eve – DRS Sneak Peek!

    Weekly-Favorite
    Best of 2010

The forecast for Atlanta today calls for a chance of snow! I don’t think we’ll have as much as pictured in my scene, but here’s hoping! I’d love for you to sled on over to the DRS blog and check out my Winter Eve.

I knew I wanted a circular frame and a little bit of the out-of-the-box treatment, so I figured out where my image needed to be and stamped the Tree with Snow, masking off the fence portion. I kept the circle frame mask on, added a smaller circle mask for the moon and sponged on the sky colors. I used the blank embossing technique to emboss the flurries pattern on the side and leave the image area smooth. I used a circle die set to cut the pink frame and a template to cut the blue frame. I added the cut out portion of the fence on top. Stickles was added to the snow and a die cut sentiment finished it off.

It sure has felt like fall the last few days. It’s been downright chilly and the trees are showing some wonderful colors.

This card is for aColor Combo Challenge by Scrapmaster’s Paradise and it’s being sponsored today by DRS Designs! The colors for this challenge are Crushed Curry, Really Rust and Always Artichoke. What great fall colors!

I’m using a brand new fall image, L070 Spooky Tree w/Moon along with E580x Happy Fall One ‘n All, D701 Medium Silhouette Leaf and H618x 2Fall Leaf Background.

The tree was stamped on to vanilla c/s w/ the chocolate ink and I painted some bleach into the moon area. It was cut w/ a Spellbinders oval Nestie and a technique I came up with called Out of the Box Nestie. A little color was added w/ markers and after I edged it w/ the markers, I used a water brush around the edge to blur it.  It’s attached to rust and artichoke ovals.

The curry bg was stamped w/ the leaf background image and a combination of palm leaf and sienna inks. The edge was punched and it was attached to an artichoke layer w/ one rounded edge, then a rust layer.

Happy Fall Tree close up 3720acThe greeting was stamped w/ the chocolate ink, then I used an ochre marker to trace the letters.  Two leaves were stamped using the Kpad and cut out. I made two faux brads by using a 1/4″ hole punch on part of another stamped leaf and attaching them to pieces of punched cardboard.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to check out the challenge!
