The Sketch Challenge on Splitcoast today (SC453) was a real challenge for me. To make it work, I had to mirror image it so the images would fit better. After playing w/ it for quite a while, I finally arrived at what you see and it’s kind of growing on me.

The images are from DRS Designs.  For the cat in the moon, I used a few yellow Copics then die cut using a big circle. I did the same for the sentiment and the two ring frames around the fussy cut cat & mouse, are actually from the sentiment die cuts. I had to make them a little smaller and I liked the way they looked instead of another circle image. I added some stamped white stars on top and some starry ribbon across the bottom of the fence. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

  • SSCB#19 Serendipity Stamps – Tri-Shutter Card

Weekly-FavoriteWelcome to a new challenge for Serendipity Stamps! The Serendipity Challenge this week is a Tri-Shutter Card!  You can find all the details on how to play along with us at the Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog. With each challenge we always have a gift certificate up for grabs to a random player. And this week’s sale will be free shipping on any US order of $10 or more… offer good Sept  11-18. I’m also adding this to the Splitcoast Ways to Use It Challenge (WT444)…use designer paper!
For my Tri-Shutter card, I used this sweet Snowman w/ Birds image. After coloring him with Copics, I die cut him using my out of the box Nestie technique. I added a lt blue die cut layer then attached him to the front section of my tri-shutter card. The purple piece was die cut w/ a fancy snow border. I didn’t use other papers on the sections to the right of him, because I liked the way all the white space showed him off.

I added narrow sections of different patterned papers on the open sections. On the far right right panel, I added a long pennant flag with the sentiment and the snowflake on top. I added a couple of the same snowflake on the panels facing the sentiment, but so sorry…I didn’t take a pic to show it!

After finishing, I added just a little stickles to a few areas of the snowman. If you’d like the template for this Tri-Shutter card, it can be found HERE.  These are the Copics I used to color everything.

  • Neon Treat

    Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com
A big Congrats to Julie (Humma), the Featured Stamper (FS344) on Splitcoast! She has such a fabulous gallery and I chose THIS  card of hers to case. I kept the 4 block layout and bright colors but I used different images, added some faux stitching and made mine a Halloween card.

The image is from DRS Designs and I just love it!  I thought it would be fun to use fluorescent Copic markers on it. After stamping and coloring it, I used a rectangle die to cut it. I had some small scraps of neon yellow/green & orange so I incorporated them into a color blocked background along w/ the black card stock. The faux stitching was done with a black micron and a neon orange gel pen. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25. These are the Copics & Sharpies (Sharpie has a neon set, too!) I used to color it.
