Hi y’all! This is my last Dare to Get Dirty Challenge sample and this one is for the challenge I’m hosting!

Well, this is the view I wish I had! And I wouldn’t mind a pair of them highfalutin’ boots, neither! Think if I call up Nocona Boots and ask them to make a pair, they’d go for it? Anyway, the inside says “Have a Texas sized Birthday” and this one is going to my Dad. He still lives in Texas. I don’t think he’d wear the kinda girlie looking boots, but he’ll like the view, too.

For my inset window scene, I sponged on the greens at the bottom and the blue and purples at the top. Since the green and purple don’t play well together, I left just a smidge of white between the two. When I had the color intensity I wanted, I stamped the silhouette scene on top then die cut it. I cut a very narrow white layer to back it, then put it back on top of the background it was cut from. The white layer has a larger rectangle die cut window and I added some backing layers to elevate it slightly. The little bluebonnets and sentiment were stamped directly on the bottom. I had a little of the sponged background left, so I stamped the boots and hat onto this and cut them out. The finished card is 6.50 x 5.00.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a chance to play in the Dare to Get Dirty Challenges this week. Lots of fun, inspiration, chatter and PRIZES! This is the final challenge, but y’all still have until Aug 6th to upload your creations in the Dare to Get Dirty Forum on Splitcoast.

  • ODBD August Release Blog Hop!

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/

Welcome to the Our Daily Bread designs August Release Blog Hop!

If you arrived here from the blog of the lovely, talented Sandee, you are in the right place. If not, you should start at the ODBD Blog (link) so you don’t miss anyone, and don’t miss a chance to win! If any of the links are broken along the way, you can always pop back to that post for the complete list of links.

Aren’t these new release images fabulous? I know they make beautiful bookmarks, but with a little masking, they also make great silhouette scenes. And the coordinating bookmark dies are just over the moon wonderful!Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/

To start, I used the smaller bookmark die to cut the three long panels. In order to have the same cut on both ends, I die cut to the center, take it out, turn the die around and cut the other end the same as the first. With the die still in place, I stamped different parts of the Bookmark Tree image across the bottoms of the panels.

For the quote panel, I stamped only the sun/eagle part of the image and the quote, masked them and stamped a portion of the trees. It was die cut with a rectangle die. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • Happy Sailing!

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

This is a little Sneaky Peek of some fabulous new images to be released on tomorrow morning’s ODBD Release! I made this for the Splitcoast Featured Stamper this week (FS282), Loll Thompson! Congrats to Loll! What a fab gallery! I chose her Sail the Ocean Blue card to case. I kept the ship at sea theme,  the general layout and red, white & blue theme, but I had to change the card format to fit my image and added a couple more layers. I used different images, papers and made a band w/ punched out stars in place of the twine.

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

After stamping the ship image, I sponged on some different blue inks and added just a touch of red to a few areas. The compass rose was stamped on the navy background w/ indigo ink and on the little side pieces of the sentiment w/ fired brick ink.  The horizontal band was assembled with leftover strips and I punched the white band w/ a small star punch. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

I hope you’ll stop back by to view all the fabulous art the team has put together with the gorgeous new sets and you’ll also be eligible to win some fantastic prizes.

    See you tomorrow!
