Today’s Color Challenge (CC559) is rose red, garden green & honey gold w/ the dessert option of making it a Christmas card. I wasn’t sure these colors would work at all for a Christmas card, so I chose to use this beautiful new Bridge scene but make it snowy w/ sunset behind it & add a Christmas greeting.
I stamped it w/ Memento on a lt kraft card stock then colored it in using Prismacolor pencils. I also added some bright white highlights w/ a white gel pen then I stamped over it (it was still in my Misti) w/ Versafine to bring all the details back. Then I spritzed it w/ a spray I made using whitewash acrylic paint thinned w/ water (about a 3 to 1, water to paint, ratio). Just a note here…I’ve had this mix in a little mini mister for about a year & it still hasn’t clogged, so I’m happy w/ my self made snow spray.
The frames were die cut using the new Double Stitched Rectangles & Rectangle dies & the largest is my favorite Flourished Star Pattern die. The greeting & green layer were die cut using the new Double Stitched Circle dies along w/ a small circle die (Spellbinders).
Here’s a look at the inside. I used a little leftover green stitched frame & added a green Windowsill Candle die cut.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Welcome to the Our Daily Bread designs December Release! We have some beautiful scenic images & fabulous dies for you this month!
It’s no secret that I love scenic images & I LOVE to color so this month’s release is definitely in my wheelhouse (pardon the pun). For my first card I used Copics to color the Living Water image, then I over stamped w/ Versafine because I love how it brings out the details. The water at the bottom of the image was extended a bit by turning the image around & stamping just the water part again (upside down). I had some rusty barn red card stock that I had spritzed with bleach & it looked really good w/ the colors in the image so I used it for the framing. To make the white frames, I die cut using the fabulous new Double Stitched Rectangles, Rectangles & the largest Double Stitched Circle for the opening around the image. I trimmed off the edges a bit on the smaller rectangle using one of the matting basics because I wanted a bit of the red to show though then I attached the larger frame on top along w/ the greeting circles & a few Candi dots.
Here’s a look at the inside using the leftover circles…a little simple, but I liked the asymmetrical look of it & below it are the Copics I used.
Supplies:
Stamps: ODBD – Living Water |
Paper: X-Press It white, Neenah white, barn red (spritzed w/ bleach) |
Ink: Memento tuxedo black, Versafine onyx (to over stamp after coloring) |
Accessories: ODBD Double Stitched Rectangles, Rectangles, Double Stitched Circles dies, Copic markers, Spellbinders A2 matting basics A & B, circle dies, Misti, bleach in mister bottle, Candi dots |
For my second card, I used the beautifully scenic Safe Travels. I made a background on water color paper using regular pan water colors & a little Brushos water color crystals. I added the colors, approximating where the image would be, dried it w/ a heat gun then stamped the scene in Versafine.
A few more detail colors were added after it was stamped then I used the Rectangles & Double Stitched Rectangles to die cut the main image. I had to do a little out of the box to keep from trimming off the tree tops. On the rest of water color background, I stamped the trees & tree tops again to make it look as if there is a forest on the layer behind the bridge. A stitched rectangle frame was added on top & then the rest of the water color background added behind the image.
This is the inside using some of the leftover water color bg & one bridge I fussy cut. Originally, I was going to put this greeting on the outside but since it’s a little bigger & covered up much more of the bridge, I put it on the inside.
