    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.comHappy Friday!

    Weekly-Favorite

I hope your week has gone well. Today I want to share a card using parts of a couple of images. One of the reasons I love DRS images is that they are so versatile. For both of the images on the card front, I used only a part of the image. Sometimes it’s good to take a look at stamps you have and see how they look as a partial image or if they can be used in a different way.

TIP: Die cut or punch a square (or other shape) in a piece of scrap paper. Take the punched opening and move it around on your stamped image to see what looks best. Then lightly pencil the frame so you know where to cut or punch.

The bloomin’ huge flower was stamped a few times and I used a small square die to cut the four flower parts out. After coloring w/ markers and a water brush I attached them to slightly larger black die cut squares. I used a stripe embossing folder on the top 2/3 of the white layer and attached the squares.

For the sentiment, I used only the first line. I liked the pretty script font of the greeting and it’s really large enough to stand on its own. I used a small corner rounder to mimic some of the word window punches. I die cut a fancy tag out of black and inserted my greeting. Stickles was added to the flower centers. The finished card measures 4.25 x 5.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Hopefully you have been enjoying the beautiful cards presented by my fellow Sparkle Team designers. Our Mother’s Day inspired hop is nontraditional because we’re displaying cards which honor special women in our lives, whether they are Moms or not. We hope you will enjoy these feminine cards, and perhaps create something special for the dear women who regularly and meaningfully touch your life.

For my cards, I made two different color versions of the same card. I think this will work well not only for Mother’s Day, but birthday, thinking of you, really anytime you want to send a card to special girlfriend or relative. The backgrounds were both done with pigment inks from the same collection. I used a little more coral and apple green on the pink card and more of the fresh green and amber on the green card. The floral background was stamped with the black ink and it was carefully cut out. The remainder of the background was used for the middle layer.

The sentiment was stamped first with a combination of the same pigment inks. After lining it up with a SAMJ, I over stamped it using the black ink and die cut it. The ribbons were colored with markers to match and I tied them through the die cut buckles. The flowers in the backgrounds were colored in with the white gel pen and glitter was added to them. The finished cards measure 5.5 x 4.25.

For my card, I’m using the Scripture I submitted which is included on the  Scripture 6 set. I stamped it on one of the plainer pieces of coordinating papers and die cut using a petite oval. The Fancy label was stamped and die cut using the Spellbinders Labels 17 and Grand Calibur. For the black layer, I traced the same Label 17 die and hand cut it to get the 1/8″ border.

The dp layer on top was cut in a zigzag on the bottom and left to mimic the paper pattern. The flocked flowers on the dp were cut and lifted on top of the edge of my scripture layers. The dp layer on the bottom is also flocked. The 3 black dew drops on the right started out clear. I colored them with a black Permapaque marker then coated them with a clear nail polish to make them really shine. Everything is attached to a vanilla 6.25 x 4.5 (A6) card.
