Another fun Inspiration Challenge at SCS today! I liked a bunch of the pillows but I was immediately drawn to the Spirographe. I love all things geometric and patterned and fractal.

For my spiro border, I used a combination of a spirograph border (HA) and some similar spiro looking foam stamps (Clearsnap). Originally, I was just going to stamp/mask them across the bottom. I wanted to see how they’d look, so I did a dry run on piece of scratch paper. When I used the smallest nestie circle to cut out some masks, my stamped practice piece (w/ the circles cut out) happened to be sitting on a piece of the rose red. I decided I really liked it so I incorporated it into the design. I used the white pigment ink to stamp the three behind the cut outs. I love accidental discoveries and they happen in my designs all the time.

The greeting (LIWP) was white embossed and cut w/ a nestie square. It’s on a narrow white layer then another r.red layer which was cut w/ a nestie scallop square. The ribbon (Mike’s $ bin) was attached to the front of the stamped white linen layer, then the greeting added.

The dew drop things are more Mike’s finds. They’re little flat backed acrylic things from their floral dept. I colored the back side w/ a rose colored sharpie and glued them on.

Supplies:
Stamps: Hero Arts, Lasting Impressions w/ Panache, Clearsnap
Paper: white, white linen, = to rose red
Ink: white pigment, Printworks Hot Pink
Accessories: white embossing powder, rose colored sharpie, nestie squares, scalloped squares and circles sets, ribbon, dew drops, foam tape

Thanks so much for stopping by!

I was going to do some serious work on my Christmas cards today, but when I saw who the Featured Stamper at SCS was, I could not pass up a chance to case My Gal Pal, Dawn (aka flowergal36)! I’ve been in Dawn’s gallery a bunch of times but it was still hard to pick just one. I finally decided on Fall Batik. I changed the colors, the images, the season, the ribbon placement. I kept the batik look of the embossing resist bg but added an image/sentiment layer.

The bg Christmas word stamp (LIWP) was stamped w/ white onto white c/s and was white embossed. Then I wet the entire piece and floated in the dye reinkers w/ my water brush.

The bird (Inkadinkado) and sentiment (PSX) were stamped w/ white ink onto the temp. turq. and embossed w/ red ep. I had to use white ink under the red powder to get the brighter color on the turq. c/s. I added white highlights w/ a white gel pen. I cut around the out of the box areas and inserted my nestie rectangle to do the frame. I edged it w/ a white marker then attached it to a red nestie rectangle that was also edged w/ the white marker. These are attached to the batik bg w/ foam tape. I added a little stickles on the snowflakes.

The ribbon started out as white so I used markers and the water brush to dye it to match. A layer of temp turq is behind the batik and then it’s attached to a red card. It measures 6.5 x 5.

Supplies:
Stamps: Inkadinkado, PSX, Lasting Impressions w/ Panache
Paper: white, real red, tempting turquoise
Ink: white pigment, various dye reinkers, markers
Accessories: white & red embossing powders, water brush, white gel pen, white galaxy marker, stickles, foam tape, satin ribbon, nestie rectangles

Boys like glitter, don’t they? I sure hope so, cause this is glitter, glitter everywhere! I like glitter, I just prefer it in a glitter glue. Loose glitter is just so unmanageable at times. But I pulled it out for this. I also wasn’t sure about the heat & stick powder. I’ve had for a while but never had much luck with it. For some reason, it behaved like a champ today. Go figure!

The image was stamped once on lime and again on white. I colored the cake and hat and pieced it onto the lime one. I used glaze pens to give the cake and candle some shine. I used a mesh cb folder on the frame and oval behind the sentiment. Then I used the nestie oval. If you do it the other way around, you’ll lose the oval edging you get w/ the nestie. Then I rubbed the mandarin ink over them. (the other side of the embossed folder looks like mesh, but on this side, it looks reptilian to me.)

I die cut the lattice and colored it w/ a marker. Then I attached double sided tape to the back side and spread orange glitter over the top.

For the bg, I stamped various images and dots (remember that dot stamp I made last week?) w/ the VM and coated w/ the heat & stick; heated slightly then added the glitters and heated again. I attached this to a white card and added all my images w/ foam tape. I cut a slit in the cake and added the candle w/ some seriously high foam tape.

Forgot to mention- I’ve had these funny googlie eyes for a while. Good thing, cause they came in handy!
