Today’s Color Challenge (CC561) on Splitcoast, has some beautiful colors & the first thing that came to mind was a dappled gray horse.
For my very dappled gray & her foal, I put them in my Misti, stamped w/ Memento, then colored them w/ Copic markers. It took me longer than I thought it would to color the horses….kind of funny when they are basically “gray”. I had to use the blender quite a bit to achieve the dappled look and this is probably the most I’ve ever used a black Copic, but I really needed it for the shadows. Since the other colors are pretty much shades of each other, I used those Copic colors to color in the grassy area & add a bit of dappling to the lower background. Then I overstamped with Versafine to sharpen the details. The stitched rectangles & stitched ovals along w/ the plain ovals & rectangles were used to die cut the layers & frames.
Here are the Copics I used. (The only reason N3 is there is because C3 was running low on ink & I didn’t want to stop to fill it up.)
Thanks so much for looking!

Welcome to part 2 of the August Challenge for Serendipity Stamps! This month the challenge is is Miss You/Thinking of You. You can get all the details over on the Serendipity Challenge Blog. The design team has the added challenge of using the same image from the first challenge, but making it a bit “more”. You only have to make a Miss You/Thinking of You card. The sale at Serendipity Stamps this week is 40% off the highest priced item in your cart when you use code “40fromhigh814” – good through 8/27. And as always, we have a have a gift certificate up for grabs to a random player.
For my “more” card using the same mustang images, I started out the same…stamped it with Versafine onto water color paper and used water soluble graphite, a couple of water brushes & to add more color, I also added a combination of Distress reinkers in spun sugar & tattered rose.. I die cut with an oval die, edged it w/ black & matted it on a larger oval of a peachy/pink designer paper. The rope corner was stamped, colored the same way and die cut w/ a large square. The black print and larger pink layer were also die cut before being attached to my 4.25 x 5.50 card front. A multi tag punch was used to punch out the tag from a leftover piece of the colored water color paper and the greeting was stamped on top. A section of fussy cut piece of the rope corner and a black mini brad were added w/ the tag.
Here is my “simple” version from 8/6.
