I’m doing my best to combine two Splitcoast challenges on this card: TLC378 (use a brayer) and the color challenge CC376 (pick some retiring colors). And I thought I’d use these Our Daily Bread designs images to make a Father’s Day card.

For the TLC (brayered paper), I used a brayer and a rainbow pad to do the background and sentiment strip. Before using the brayer, I put down some drywall mesh to get this cool grid pattern. The beach scene was stamped w/ the lapis ink onto vellum and I used markers on the backside for a little soft color. I used some trimmed off strips to make a little frame around the vellum.

For the CC, I used the pear pizzazz, concord crush and a teeny bit of the blushing bride (right at the horizon). I hope it ok that there are a couple of extra colors in the mix. My finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

What a fabulous site for today’s Inspiration Challenge (IC337)! I saw a lot of things there I really like. For my card, I chose THIS  item. I liked the blue/white with the framed image in the center.

For my fairly simple card,  I combined two new sentiments from DRS Designs and stamped them with white pigment ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. After die cutting, I also die cut a white layer, a leafy flourish and part of a fancy tag. I added a double white bow and my 4.25 x 5.50 card was finished.

Best of 2012 –SPLITCOASTSTAMPERS!

The Ways to Use It Challenge (WT375) on Splitcoast has us using complementary colors and I think my card fits that. I love the high contrast I get with complementary colors and I use them frequently. The images are a sneak peek from DRS Designs.

The trumpet player was stamped three times, colored with makers and the I sponged the ground and cut the top in a straight line with top halves of the band members out of the box. The music background was sponged as well and I attached this on the top half of my 5.50 x 4.25 card. The band players were added on the bottom and a fourth (red pants) trumpet player was cut out and elevated slightly. The sentiment was split onto banners which were sponged with the die still in place. It’s funny, but I realized these guys were wearing gloves after I colored their sleeves and hands, so I added the line so they wouldn’t be wearing gloves. I was in the marching band all through school and I can tell you from experience, gloves would have made it impossible to play, lol. Especially with the E flat clarinet I played (about half the size of a regular clarinet).
