I was able to make another card for today’s Featured Stamper challenge (FS267) at Splitcoast. This one is pretty CAS (clean and simple). Congrats again to Diane! This time I chose her Happy Birthday card. I kept similar neutral colors but lightened mine a bit and I didn’t have the wonderful twiggy flower image so I used a similar embossing folder. I moved the sentiment and added a bow. Instead of birthday, I made mine a thank you card.

The sentiment and dragonfly are from Our Daily Bread designs. The sentiment was stamped w/ the toffee ink and die cut. The dragonfly was white embossed and cut out. The rest of the card front is totally an embossing folder. I went over the high points w/ a white marker and added a button and a bow. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Welcome to Our Daily Bread Designs‘  Alumni Team’s bi-monthly For the Love Blog Hop.  If you arrived here from the  blog of thevery talented Rosemary Dennis, then you’re in the right place. If not, you may want to go to the ODBD Blog  and start from the beginning. This week the Alumni team along with some of the ODBD designers are featuring a hop for the For the Love of ODBD Backgrounds!

For my card, I used two backgrounds: the Large Bird Background and the Wood Background.

The two backgrounds were stamped with the pigment ink and the edges sponged w/ the same ink and a little of the darker fluid chalk ink on the very edge.

On the sentiment/label, I placed a mask where the sentiment would be and inked the rest DTP (direct to paper) with the pixie dust ink at the top, papaya cream ink in the middle and rose coral ink at the bottom. After it dried,  I removed the mask and stamped the label and sentiment with black ink.  I really wanted to use gray ink, but it just looked too washed out. I used a white gel pen to add the tiny white dots around the flowers. It was die cut w/ the coordinating Spellbinders Labels 18 die.  I die cut a flourish out of some left over DTP c/s and added the two little punched birds and a double bow. The finished card is 6.25 x 4.50 (A6).

Thanks so much for stopping by! I’m also adding this to the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast (IC328).

Believe it or not, but this IS the sketch from today’s challenge on Splitcoast (SC375)! It just got a little covered up. My circle had to be bigger and then I added the fussy cut dogwoods and poof! The horizontal and vertical bands mostly disappeared.

The images are all from DRS Designs and the Hope quote and dogwoods are a sneak peek of new images to be released on Sat. 3/10/12. I’m really loving these dogwoods! Here I stamped them in lightning black and very quickly added just a hint of shading w/ two markers then cut them out. I know, I know…most people don’t care for the fussy cutting, but I like it, lol. And I’ve gotten really quick with it. It took me about 7 or 8 min. to cut out the 3 bunches of dogwoods.

For the quote circle, I stamped the stained glass image w/ the lightning black then stamped the quote over it w/ black before die cutting it. The little left over crescent moon shape is what was left and I kinda liked it so I added some sponged on gold leafing and put it back.

The strips were stamped w/ the stained glass image and the gold ink and a solid strip added on top. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
