Best of 2012 -SPLITCOASTSTAMPERS!

A BIG CONGRATS to Mary (aka jandjccc), the Splitcoast Featured Stamper (FS290)!

And wow does Mary have a fabulous gallery and I spent quite a bit of time strolling thru the pages. I was really struck by a scenic card she had called Lonesome Bird. I love the greens (my fave!) and the bird, the moon…well I love the whole thing. So I kept those, but I used different images, made a frame around mine and added two punched birds instead of the one stamped bird.

I needed an anniversary card for my hubby, since Monday is our anniversary so I thought Mary’s card would be the perfect one to case. I pulled out a long neglected Stampscapes image for this and after placing a circle mask for the moon, I sponged on the various green inks then stamped the image on top. A few wispy clouds were sponged across the moon and some highlights added to the trees and rocks. The reflected light on the water was done by scribbling a white Distress marker and a white gel pen then going over them w/ a water brush. The white gel pen was also used to add some stronger highlights to the water. The frame was die cut as were the flourish elements, then the punched birds and sentiment were added. The finished card is 6.25 x 4.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Enjoy your week, Mary!

For today’s Ways to Use It Challenge (WT389), the challenge is use clouds. I chose to use an old Sizzix cloud die as it seemed the right size. The balloon was stamped on white the I filled it in w/ various punched strips of bright colors then cut it out and attached it to the cobalt blue background. I added a few thin strips for the wires and attached my cut out kitty on the present for the basket of the hot air balloon. The images are all from DRS Designs.

On the border of the blue background and the on the white card front, I used a stencil/template from Crafter’s Workshop. It has a bunch of different borders like this and I just used the white or blue gel pens to trace inside the template lines and create my borders. The finished card is 4.50 x 6.25 (A6), a little larger because the balloon is so big!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Please be sure to check out the DRS Thursday Challenge today! Free stuff is up for grabs and this week we just want to your Silhouette images (DRS images not required).

If you arrived here from Lisa’s blog, you are in the right place. If not, you may want to start at the ODBD Blog so you won’t miss anything. Today, we have a special Happy Birthday Blog Hop for our dear friend and DT member, Randi! In her blessed life, she has faced so very much and if you’d like to read a little about her recent battle, please take a moment to read the story behind the ODBD stamp set, Randi’s Song, named in her honor. Kelley will be giving away a Happy Birthday set to 3 people chosen from the comments.  All you have to do is hop along and leave a Happy Birthday wish for Randi on the ODBD Blog. And if you feel so inclined, you can leave her a Happy Birthday wish on her blog: Randi’s Blog. She hasn’t been able to create in a while, but she does stay connected and I’m sure she’ll see your message.

This is my birthday card & bookmarks to Randi. I hope she like them! I used several different sets and dies to create it and the double sided bookmarks. For the daisy background, I used markers to color in the background and add just a hint of color to the daisies. The sentiment was die cut, sponged and layered on top of two Memory Box die cuts. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.
