What a glamorous inspiration challenge today at SCS! I don’t know about y’all, but these don’t look like any prom dresses I’ve ever seen, lol. These must be for the Hollywood grads. I was really drawn to Style 5926.

I used several different images to make up my layered medallion. Some were white embossed on red and the others were red embossed on white. The largest one was cut w/ a Nestie circle and the others were just cut out and layered w/ foam tape.

The top red linen piece was punched along the lower border and a dotty swirl (Inkadinkado) was white embossed.

On the white layer, The red swirlies (Inkadinkado, flowers (AL)) and greeting (MSE) were stamped w/ the cardinal ink. A dot bg (Inque) was also stamped on part of it. It’s edged w/ a red marker and attached to a white card w/ the red attached on top.

Stickles was added all over the dots and flowers and a red rhinestone was glued in the center of the medallion.

Stamps: Inkadinkado, My Sentiments Exactly, Autumn Leaves, Inque (Anita’s)
Paper: white, red linen
Ink: AP cardinal, white & red pigment inks
Accessories: white & red embossing powders, nestie circle, MS embossing border punch, stickles, red rhinestone, red marker

Thanks so much for stopping by!

I don’t know who this Murphy guy is, but if I find him I’ll probably kick him in the shins for having this stupid law. I was almost finished, trying very hard to put this altogether before I lost all daylight. It’s a cold and windy day (rained all night as the front came thru), mostly cloudy but occasionally the sun would peek out for a few seconds. So I’m out on the deck w/ my camera and the card. I get it all arranged and snap ONE picture. Immediately, a big gust of wind hits and it starts raining. My card blows off the paper and lands in a puddle (of course). Guess which side is down? Hint, it’s same side that would hit the floor if it were a piece of bread w/ peanut butter on one side.

I quick snatch it up and run inside and try to mop up the water. The card lived, but it looks a tad warped on one side and a little of the color ran.

Next, I go inside to my sunny window (if there is sun) and can you believe it? The sun breaks thru. I snap a few more pics and now you can really see the warped side. That stupid Murphy! If the sun had come out first, I wouldn’t have been outside in the first place!

The pic above is the BEFORE pic; here is the AFTER pic. You can see a little warping on the lower right side and a little of the color ran.

Anyway, the bg is embossing resist- I white embossed the images (Inque) and sponged on the 3 ink colors (for the CC challenge). I white embossed the flowers on the (MSE) and white embossed the edges. The bird is stamped on a white nestie rectangle that I resized (tutorial for this HERE.)

I added a punched corner to the upper left and a little stickles here and there. The pumpkin panel was embossed w/ a CB borders folder. TFL and please let me know if you run across this Murphy character!

Paper: white, brilliant blue, pumpkin pie
Ink: AP cobalt, mandarin and leaf green, white pigment ink

It’s Featured Stamper at SCS today. Congrats to Emily! I’ve never visited her gallery before, but I definitely had a lot to choose from. I didn’t have to go far before I saw her Bright & Blue. I changed the colors, the images, and made it into a Christmas card. I kept the layout and the window idea.

Emily used a long rectangle set to make her window and scallop insert. Since I don’t have this set, I used my standard rectangles and did the Nesite Resize technique. (Tutorial is here ).
After I cut the window opening, I used the dots folder on the green. I used a red marker to lightly edge the inside of the scallop insert.

The poinsettias (CMC) and holly (Magenta) were stamped and water colored w/ markers, then cut out. The greeting (MSE) was stamped on white vellum w/ the cardinal ink. Then I took a green marker and made the little dots on the vellum and attached it behind the opening.

I did the dots around the outside w/ a white gel pen, added the ribbon and attached everything to a white card. The poinsettias and holly are attached w/ foam tape.

Stamps: My Sentiments Exactly, Magenta, Canadian Maple Collection
Paper: white, glorious green, white vellum
Ink: Ancient Page coal, cardinal
Accessories: markers, foam tape, water brush, nestie rectangles & scallop rectangles, cuttlebug swiss dots folder, ribbon, white gel pen
