  • Going Green!

For the Ways to Use It Challenge on Splitcoast (WT469) we are Going Green…using the color green! Since it’s my favorite color, it’s perfect for me and for my St. Paddy’s Day cards.

On my first card, it’s pretty simple, and really only one layer. The hat full of shamrocks, greeting, shamrock border and shamrock corner were all stamped on the same layer and colored with Copics. I trimmed around the edge of the shamrock border and added a narrow strip of green behind it before attaching to my card front. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used.

On my second St. Paddy’s Day card, the leprechaun scene was stamped, colored with Copics and I added a rusty brown frame with a large scallop oval cut out around it. I just loved coloring the toadstools these funky colors! The greeting was stamped on the frame and a couple of toadstools and shamrocks were colored, fussy cut and added on top. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25 and these are the Copics I used.

Today we are introducing this wonderful Shamrock die! Don’t you love the Celtic knot work in the shamrock petals? I die cut the shamrock out of some recycled box panels. I loved the dk green color and it is really heavy weight, but the die handled it with no problem. I also die cut a couple more shamrocks out of plain card stock and stacked them together w/ the green one on top for some extra dimension. It’s attached to a die cut circle of textured aqua and I die cut larger circles on the top layers of mossy green and patterned dp. The dp was also die cut on the lower edge w/ a curved die and I attached a strip of white die cut w/ a coordinating curved border. The greeting was stamped on an angle in the lower right corner with green ink. I outlined the letters w/ a dark green Micron pen and added shading and sparkle with a Stardust pen. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.
