    Birthday Butterflies Doily 04599
Today is a bittersweet day. We (the Featured Stamper Hostesses) are having to say goodbye to one of our own…Bridget Finlay. We are sad she is leaving, but we understand that Bridget has an important mission.

For this card, I chose THIS card of Bridget’s. I really love the contrast of the turquoise & peach and her perfect layout, so I kept those. For me, the real challenge of caseing Bridget is I don’t want to change a thing! But change I must, so I used different images, a doily die cut instead of the heart and I used a stamped, die cut butterfly instead of the punched one Bridget used.

I started with a die cut white panel, attached some drywall mesh and sponged on the tumbled glass ink in a random rather than solid manner, then added a little splatter w/ the same ink & a water brush. After die cutting the doily w/ peach, I cut it apart & reassembled it a little smaller to fit the area. The big butterfly was stamped on dp & die cut. I really loved the shiny little teal leaf embellies Bridget used, so I made mine out of aluminum foil glued to c/s, colored w/ Copics and die cut. For the flower, I used a Prima on top and punched a larger one to go underneath.

To make the greeting, I die cut the letters out of turquoise twice, stacked them on top of each for dimension & glued them in an up/down manner to mimic the wonderful die Bridget used. The pretty little flower on top of the big butterfly was a gift from my sweet friend, Sabrina.

    Supplies:

Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs Butterfly
Paper:  white, peach, turquoise, small piece of dp (Basic Grey -Hopscotch)
Ink: Memento tuxedo black, Distress ink tumbled glass
Accessories: ODBD Doily dies, ODBD Butterfly die,  ODBD Fancy Foliage die, Spellbinders A2 matting basics A & B dies & Font One upper & lower case dies, Copic markers, turquoise gem, aluminum foil, butterfly multi punch (Martha Stewart), hibiscus flower die (Quickutz), button, Prima flower

Because I could spend a lifetime caseing Bridget, I made a second card in her honor.
    Sew Special Day 04606
For my card, I cased THIS card of Bridget’s. I just love the bright colors and spools of thread. So I kept those, but I used different images/dies and made my own backgrounds.

The big solid doily image was stamped w/ the yellow ink on the large bg and partials of it were stamped w/ the other ink colors on the side strip. The little thread spools were stamped, colored & die cut & on two of them I trimmed away the measuring tape. After stamping the 2 greetings, I pierced around the edge, added a punched button border & some colorful buttons. These are the Copics I used.

    Best of 2014!
Today’s Color Challenge (CC474) on Splitcoast uses some very pretty colors…pink, pistachio & vanilla. The dessert option was a little tough…NO STAMPING! That may be easy for some, but it was a little tougher for me because I love to use images and I love to color them. For my card, I did manage the dessert. I relied on die cuts and punches to see me through.

For the vanilla panel, I used only the first half of a Memory Box die cut. The whole die says “Happy Holidays”. But I positioned it on the top of my vanilla panel, taped it place, then let the “holidays” part hang off of the cutting plate. I wasn’t sure if it would work, but it did! The birthday die is a little Sizzix sizzlet and I only used the birthday part instead of the whole “happy birthday”. The flowers, flower border and branches were all done with punches. I sponged a little darker pink ink on the petal edges and added some tiny black dots on the border flowers and tiny flowers. The big green leaves are from a poinsettia die. I used a dk pink Copic to color my rhinestone brad to match.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • Cardinal Noel

For today’s Inspiration Challenge (IC415) on Splitcoast, I chose THIS as the inspiration for my card. And I incorporated a miniature as this little cardinal image is actually a miniature of a much larger image.  I’m using the new little cardinal mage (coming soon!)  and pairing it with the Nativity Noel (minus the nativity scene inside the O). I masked out the nativity when I stamped the Noel and also stamped an extra O. I used a reverse mask and stamped the pine bough inside it. The little cardinal was stamped, colored w/ Copics and fussy cut. After they were attached to the Noel, I added a scallop edge pine green panel behind it, some punched greenery and a few red sequins. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25 and these are the Copics I used.
