Winter Mittens

I really like the colors in today’s Color Challenge (CC622) on Splitcoast…watermelon, navy & mint. And while at first, they brought to mind flowers or summer, I thought they would also be terrific for a winter card. The dessert option was to use designer paper. Well…I made my designer paper; by stamping the winter words on the mint first using white pigment ink, then stamping them again, slightly offset in the pistachio ink. On the watermelon strip, I stamped them first w/ the coral ink, then in w/white ink.
The mittens were die cut 4 times: once in white, and again in the watermelon, mint & navy colors then paper pieced together. The white snowflake centerpiece was added w/ just one word of the greeting in navy on a leftover circle of white linen c/s.

Here’s a look at the inside, w/ the entire greeting.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. Terrific work Julie. I like how you cut the mittens four times to achieve a colourful set of mittons. Lovely layout as well.
