On my first card, I used the fabulous Let it Snow set. This was such fun to color! After die cutting it, I added a dk red layer then a layer from the beautiful Christmas paper 2014 collection, then another dk red layer I cut using the largest die from last month’s Flourished Star Pattern die set. I used the gorgeous Peaceful Poinsettia dies to cut the poinsettia from the dk red, Christmas paper and white paper then layered them together. I also added some gold die cut flourishes and leaves from the Fancy Foliage die set. The greeting was stamped with the peony chalk ink and die cut using a circle die. The dk red circle was die cut using the circle from the Recipe Tag die set.The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used. I will mention here, that originally I used a few reds to color the bow…but then decided it was too red to go with paper so I used the blender to remove most of the red and added the pink.

On my second card, I used the new American Hero set to stamp my greeting in two colors and the coordinating Mini Tags die to cut it. I wanted the hole on both ends, so I cut the entire tag, embossed it, then flipped the die around to cut the hole on the other end. I embossed just this area so it would match. I colored 2 white mini brads w/ a dk red Copic to match the fabulous new Patriotic paper.
Stars & Stripes05152
The largest star from the Sparkling Star dies was used to cut the star out of the striped paper and I backed this layer w/ the navy blue chevron paper. I also used two stars to die cut a white star frame to insert. The eagle was stamped and I used a red Copic to color some of his feathers. He was fussy cut and attached on top of the star cut out. The small stars (from the Home of the Free set) were stamped & die cut with one of the smaller star dies. I added a red, white & blue banner across the top with a fussy cut little flag in the center.

Heart the Fourth 04003

Happy 4th of July!
Today’s Mix challenge (MIX75) on Splitcoast is to have a repeating item, or a parade of items. Gotcha covered! A row of pennants, a background of stars and a heart full of stars & stripes. And since it’s a MIX challenge, I have distress inks, embossing, embossing resist and some sequins thrown in.

For my patriotic card, I white embossed both of the stars & stripes hearts, and used distress inks to sponge  over the embossing, then die cut them. The red star was a leftover I cut on my Cricut. The patriotic pennants were die cut and w/ the die still in place, I stamped the stars & stripes pennants. The stamps are clear, so it’s easy to see where to stamp. The large pennant in the corner was also die cut. I used the A2 matting basics dies to cut the frame. The star bg inside the frame was made using the stormy sky ink & embossing folder stamping

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great 4th of July weekend!

For my first card, I’m using the fabulous Pennant Swag Alphabet set and matching Pennant Swag dies.

Fucshia Bday Banner 04022 Since these are clear stamps, I don’t think it matters if you stamp first, then die cut or do it in reverse. But I die cut the swag first, left the die in place, and stamped the individual pennants in place. I used these colors because I happened to have these crocus and foxglove images already colored. They weren’t used as previously intended, but I think they fit in perfectly here. The narrow fuchsia colored frames were part of a background I made with Copics and I used it as well. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25 and these are the Copics I used.

Foxglove copics 03798 I’m entering this in the Simon Says Monday Challenge…White!

Brave Eagle 04009 I combined these fabulous pennants with my favorite eagle image, from Some Gave All and the greeting from Home of the Free. I stamped the images in either the sapphire or barn door ink, die cut and arranged them as seen.
