I started this yesterday for the MIX Challenge (MIX59), but didn’t finish. So when I saw THIS picture on the Inspiration Challenge (IC432), I colored this fabulous orange blossom image, added some of the same shabby white embossing powder to it and added it to my mono print background. Since I did the tutorial for the mono print, I thought it might be nice to make an appearance for the challenge. Here is the tutorial I did way back in 2009 when I was on the Splitcoast Dirty Dozen! Mono Print Tutorial. I also did and updated version for ODBD last year when the Gelli Plate craze hit. No Gel Plate, No Problem. The background for this card is very similar to the ones I did for this tutorial. I just really like these colors together. After I made my mono print background using pigment inks, stencils & stamps, I added some of the shabby white embossing powder used the Perfect Paper Crafting mini rulers to make the 1/16 inch teal mat. I added the orange blossom image, also w/ a teal mat and the little criss crossed strips are just pieces that were trimmed off. Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25 and these are the Copics I used.Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

Welcome to Our Daily Bread Designs‘  Alumni Team’s bi-monthly For the Love Blog Hop.  If you arrived here from the  blog of thevery talented Rosemary Dennis, then you’re in the right place. If not, you may want to go to the ODBD Blog  and start from the beginning. This week the Alumni team along with some of the ODBD designers are featuring a hop for the For the Love of ODBD Backgrounds!

For my card, I used two backgrounds: the Large Bird Background and the Wood Background.

The two backgrounds were stamped with the pigment ink and the edges sponged w/ the same ink and a little of the darker fluid chalk ink on the very edge.

On the sentiment/label, I placed a mask where the sentiment would be and inked the rest DTP (direct to paper) with the pixie dust ink at the top, papaya cream ink in the middle and rose coral ink at the bottom. After it dried,  I removed the mask and stamped the label and sentiment with black ink.  I really wanted to use gray ink, but it just looked too washed out. I used a white gel pen to add the tiny white dots around the flowers. It was die cut w/ the coordinating Spellbinders Labels 18 die.  I die cut a flourish out of some left over DTP c/s and added the two little punched birds and a double bow. The finished card is 6.25 x 4.50 (A6).

Thanks so much for stopping by! I’m also adding this to the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast (IC328).

  • Pink Cat

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

For my card, I turned the sketch on its side to better fit the images. I used parts of the super cute Meow Collage. I used a DTP (direct to paper) technique with chalk inks on white card stock. The images were stamped on top of this background. The cat was stamped again on white and I paper pieced the cut out cat and stripes onto the white image. I also added some paper pieced eyes I colored green onto to the pink version cat. The kitty stripes, nose & ears were colored with a white gel pen.

For the yarn balls, I masked the first stamping and stamped it again.  On top of the panel behind it, I stamped the Triangle Stripes across it. The Posy and Posy Greeting Center were stamped and cut out and I added some pink sorbet twine behind it. The large background was also done DTP and I used a large corner rounder on the corners. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

And here’s a look at my note book.
