A big CONGRATS to Janine (aka nines), the Featured Stamper this week on Splitcoast (FS299)! What a wonderful gallery she has! I spent a long time strolling thru her gallery but kept coming back to her Read All About It card. I really liked the two color combo and text background. I kept the Christmas theme, text bg and two color combo, but I had to change the layout to fit. And I used different images, made my own background and used different colors. I had so much fun with this that I made it in 3 different colors. On two I stamped the backgrounds the same as the image and on the blue version I stamped the background in white on blue.

The main image is an oldie but goodie from Personal Stamp Exchange (PSX). I sure miss them and I adore their images. This one is such a lovely image, I elected to just stamp it in one color and add stickles for the snow instead of coloring it all in. I used a snowflake border (Recollections) and a large Tis the Season sentiment (TPC) to stamp the backgrounds on a diagonal.

Since my image was so large, I had to go horizontal and leave off a couple of the strips Janine had on her card. So mine are a little different but I think they’ll do. And this is 3 more for my Christmas card stash. Yay!

I know which color I prefer…but which color do you favor? If you can guess my fave, let me know by leaving a comment and I’ll pick a name from the correct guessers for a little BLOG CANDY! Can you say COPIC? Can you say DISTRESS INK?? Sounds pretty tasty!!

Congrats again, Janine! Enjoy your week!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Great couple of challenges at SCS. I’m combining yesterday’s Sketch and today’s Ways to Use It (only white c/s allowed).  Despite how the colors look, all c/s started as white. Everything was stamped w/ either white or seaglass pigment ink and embossed w/ white pearl ep. The white pearl ep gives it a little shimmer, but it also makes the white look a little more like cream than white.

The sentiment (PSX) was cut out w/ a nestie oval using the out of the box technique. (Tutorial HERE)

The rest of the tiles (SP) were stamped and embossed and cut out. Pretty basic. I used the Nestie square on the seaglass embossed panel behind the sentiment and a Nestie scallop square on the embossed white layer behind it.

Stamps: PSX, Scrap Pack
Paper: white
Ink: Colorbox pigment inks in white & seaglass
Accessories: white pearl embossing powder, nestie oval, square & scalloped square, foam tape

I was going to do some serious work on my Christmas cards today, but when I saw who the Featured Stamper at SCS was, I could not pass up a chance to case My Gal Pal, Dawn (aka flowergal36)! I’ve been in Dawn’s gallery a bunch of times but it was still hard to pick just one. I finally decided on Fall Batik. I changed the colors, the images, the season, the ribbon placement. I kept the batik look of the embossing resist bg but added an image/sentiment layer.

The bg Christmas word stamp (LIWP) was stamped w/ white onto white c/s and was white embossed. Then I wet the entire piece and floated in the dye reinkers w/ my water brush.

The bird (Inkadinkado) and sentiment (PSX) were stamped w/ white ink onto the temp. turq. and embossed w/ red ep. I had to use white ink under the red powder to get the brighter color on the turq. c/s. I added white highlights w/ a white gel pen. I cut around the out of the box areas and inserted my nestie rectangle to do the frame. I edged it w/ a white marker then attached it to a red nestie rectangle that was also edged w/ the white marker. These are attached to the batik bg w/ foam tape. I added a little stickles on the snowflakes.

The ribbon started out as white so I used markers and the water brush to dye it to match. A layer of temp turq is behind the batik and then it’s attached to a red card. It measures 6.5 x 5.

Stamps: Inkadinkado, PSX, Lasting Impressions w/ Panache
Paper: white, real red, tempting turquoise
Ink: white pigment, various dye reinkers, markers
Accessories: white & red embossing powders, water brush, white gel pen, white galaxy marker, stickles, foam tape, satin ribbon, nestie rectangles
