  • It’s Official! I’m one of the SCS Dirty Dozen!!

Can you believe it? I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. I’m so honored to be a part of the Design Team for Splitcoaststampers. With all the amazing talent, past and present,  of the Dirty Dozen, those are some mighty big shoes to fill.

Here’s a little sneak peek of one of my entries in the July gallery. Our theme this month is “Tropical Paradise”. Anything tropical, underwater, beach, etc related. I had so much fun with this! I hope y’all are SCS Fan Club members because you don’t want to miss this gallery and you’ll have to be a FC member to view it. It’s just one of the many perks of joining the FC.Best Fishes close up 2934ac

I also want to say CONGRATS to Jami Bova, who is my 6 month “room mate” on the SCS DD. And a huge thanks to Jenn Balcer for the DD invitation, getting all the ducks in a row and holding our hands. And all the DD team, thanks for your help!

  • Party Dress

    ic170-party-dress-2144a
I didn’t have a chance to do Saturday’s Inspiration challenge at SCS until today. But I really needed a birthday card for a little girl and I knew when I saw this Party Dress and remembered the template from Paper Craft Mag’s website, that this was the card I wanted to make.

I printed out the pattern, then enlarged to 108% and cut one on white 12 x 4.5 c/s (folded in half lengthwise). I cut another front only out of the dp. Then I cut an apron out of vellum and ran it thru the CB w/ the Swiss dots folder. I used a white Permopaque marker around the edges.

I cut a narrow band out of white and used the mini scallop scissors on top and bottom. I placed this behind the vellum then attached ribbon on top. That stupid little bow took me over half an hour to tie. I think I’ve mentioned before, I suffer from SRD (severe ribbon dysfunction).

The bottom of the card also has a mini scallop border. I attached the apron/ribbon to the dp dress then attached this to the card. I made a little collar w/ the mini scallop scissors and pierced around the edge then attached it to my dress. Drops of liquid pearls were added as buttons.

  • Diamond Latte

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/

Love the sketch, but the circles gave me a little trouble. I see now that maybe the circles weren’t supposed to overlap. Oh well.

I stamped the latte cup (IO), made a template of the circle die and lightly penciled around the image. The top part of the image I cut around w/ a craft knife so I could slip the circle die underneath it so it wouldn’t get chopped off. Then I cut and embossed the nestie as usual. Roxie and I have had an ongoing discussion about our different methods of doing this nestie out of the box thing. I promised I would do a tutorial as a pic is worth a thousand words. So, I took pics as I did this one and hopefully, I’ll have tutorial to go w/ this tomorrow.

Anyway, I stamped the rows of diamonds (SG) on the bottom band and more on the two pieces that became my overlapping circles. I colored everything w/ Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol (Odorless Mineral Spirits).

On the m.mustard layers, I used an emery board to sand the edges. I placed one of these layers behind my latte cup then attached it, slightly lower, to the negative frame left when I cut it out (I placed a rect nestie around the circle when I cut it.)

I used the scallop nesties to cut a red frame for my image and also the greeting.

    Supplies:

Paper: white, rose red, old olive, DCWV mat stack = to more mustard
    Ink: AP coal, primrose
Accessories: gamsol, Prismacolor pencils, nestie circle, scallop rectangle and rectangle sets, foam tape
